Bateleur bushveld camp is located in the northern section of the Kruger National Park and offers nice day walks. The camp was named after the beautiful bateleur eagle.

Bateleur Bushveld Camp was named after the beautiful Bateleur eagle...Bateleur bushveld camp is the oldest, built in 1989, of the bushveld camps and the smallest. It is a must for many people who have stayed there. Among those people many bird watchers. Its three 6-bed and four 4-bed huts have thatched roofs. Adding a nice colonial touch. The huts also have whitewashed walls and are carefully arranged in a grove of well-established trees on the banks of the Mashokwe River. A viewing platform has been constructed overlooking a permanent waterhole built of concrete on the bank of the river. Quite often elephant can be seen enjoying a mud-bath. Just like the river the waterhole tends to dry up in the middle of winter. Animals often to be seen around Bateleur include the eland, nyala, elephant and tsessebe. Thus being a good place for anyone interested in the shy antelope species. Residents have the exclusive right of access to two dams, namely Rooibosrand, with regular sightings of both eland and sable and Silverfish, wish is a wonderful location for bird watching.

There is an alternative to staying in the standard accommodation offered at the Kruger National Park, and one which is particularly suited to people who like watching birds and those people who prefer to be alone with nature. A number of smaller camps without shops or restaurants and that only offer serviced and fully furnished air-conditioned accommodation to ensure a very comfortable stay. Private camps accommodate fewer that 20 people and visitors must book the entire camp. Thus it offers an exclusive experience as well. Bushveld camps can be booked on the normal basis for any number of guests. They are in great demand and even though one has to book up to 13 months, over a year, in advance, they are generally oversubscribed.

Other bushveld camps: Biyamiti, Shimuwini, Sirheni and Talamati.
