The Park: Restcamps - Berg en Dal Advisory | Exploration | Map | Restcamps | Sections | Statistics | The Park This restcamp is located in the south west of the Kruger National Park. Not far from Malenane Gate. Berg en Dal means "mountain and vale" in both Afrikaans and Dutch.
Berg en Dal is nested in beautiful mountain surroundings in the thick vegetated south-western region of the Kruger National Park. This is one of the newest and most modern camps in the park and offers visitors outstanding accommodation and facilities. Everything at Berg en Dal - even the petrol station - has been constructed in such a way that it blends in with the indigenous red bush-willow, marula and acacia vegetation. The huts are designed for maximum privacy and are set in a landscaped garden with large rolling lawns. A highlight of the camp is its large swimming pool with water cascading into it over walls of natural rock. Equally spectacular is the view from the restaurant across the Matjulu dam. There is excellent bird watching inside the camp, and nocturnal visitors to the fence line include porcupine, civet and genet. Visitors who are interested in archaeology will be fascinated by the Iron-age artifacts which were discovered while the camp as under construction. These may be viewed at the information center. A twenty minute walk called the Rhino Trail weaves through the camp and includes many items of archaeological, geological and ecological interest. A trail with Braille information plates and rope barriers has been designed for blind visitors. Other restcamps: Crocodile Bridge, Letaba, Lower Sabie, Mopani, Olifants, Orpen, Pretoriuskop, Punda Maria, Satara, Shingwedzi and Skukuza restcamps. Other bushveld camps: Bateleur, Biyamiti, Shumuwini, Sirheni and Talamati.
