Skukuza, the capital of the Kruger National Park offers visitors an unique experience. As you drive through its impressive gates you enter a world quite unlike any other in the park. This is the center of administration and research and is abuzz with scientists, conservationists and game rangers going about their important business. One of its greatest attractions for visitors is the Stevenson-Hamilton Memorial Library housing a fine collection ecologically orientated books, paintings and memorabilia. A museum has been constructed at the railway siding which was used on the Selati line in the 1920's. You can have a meal in a restaurant housed in two old railway carriages from the same period. Also worth a visit is the Campbell 1929 Hut Museum. This National Monument was one of the first tourist to be established in Skukuza and houses interesting relics from the period. Skukuza has over two hundred huts, making it Kruger National Park largest camp. In fact, with its hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, it can claim to be one of the largest Lowveld towns. Skukuza also offers its own golf course. Other restcamps: Berg en Dal, Crocodile Bridge, Letaba, Lower Sabie, Mopani, Olifants, Orpen, Pretoriuskop, Punda Maria, Satara and Shingwedzi restcamps.
